Stationery, Stationary or Stationry

Unsurprisingly the words stationery, stationary and stationry are used interchangeably by people when describing what we do, as a clarification we have put together a little information about the correct use of grammar in relation to the these spellings.

Stationery

This is the correct use of the word when describing office products, writing supplies and printed material such as letterheads, compliments slips and such like.

e.g. "We purchase our stationery from Office 365."

Derived from this we get the word stationer to describe a person who sells stationery.

Stationary

This spelling is correct when describing an object which is at rest.

e.g. "The car was stationary at the traffic lights."

Stationry

This word is not actually a word, but is quite a common misspelling of the other words and as such there is no correct usage.
